Maria Batrakova

Maria Batrakova, is a Master's student at NOVA IMS, in the Data Science and Advanced Analytics program, and has been at the Champalimaud Foundation since September 2024. Her study focuses on leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) to structure free-text radiological reports of rectal cancer according to a primary staging template.

The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of open-weight LLMs in this task, analyze the common challenges and limitations encountered, and create a synthetic dataset as a benchmark. This involves structuring the free-text reports, assessing their completeness, and categorizing types of the errors made by the models.
