Liliana Castanheira, MD, PhD, is a physician of the Breast Unit at the Champalimaud Foundation, with a multidisciplinary background spanning General and Family Medicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences, clinical pharmacology, epidemiology and patient-centred care. She trained initially in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon, completed postgraduate training in Epidemiology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, and received a PhD in Biomedicine from the University of Beira Interior, supported by a doctoral fellowship from Foundation for Science and Technology . She later completed her medical degree at NOVA Medical School.

Dr Castanheira has further developed her expertise in cancer survivorship and lifestyle medicine through advanced training, including the Updates to Cancer Survivorship: Optimizing Care and Outcome course at Harvard Medical School and the Training Course in Oncology and Lifestyle Medicine. She has also pursued additional training in mindfulness, emotional intelligence, communication and longevity medicine, reflecting a sustained interest in holistic, preventive and person-centred healthcare.
