Leonor Matos, MD
Leonor Matos, MD., is an oncologist and clinical researcher at the Breast Unit of the Champalimaud Foundation, where she has served since 2021. She holds a Master’s in Medicine from the New University of Lisbon and a Master’s in Palliative Care from the Portuguese Catholic University. Dr. Matos completed clinical training at the Instituto Tumori in Milan, Italy, and pursued graduate training in Outcomes Research at the National School of Public Health in Lisbon. She also completed the prestigious 2-year Clinical Scholars Research Training Program at Harvard Medical School in 2020.
Dr. Matos has presented her research at national and international conferences and has authored 19 scientific articles indexed in PubMed. She is a co-author of the International Consensus Guidelines for the Management of Advanced Breast Cancer and has received seven awards for first-authorship research, along with a grant for a prospective study on integrating patient-reported outcomes in oncology practice. Dr. Matos is an active member of several professional societies, including the Portuguese Society of Oncology, ESMO, ASCO, and the SOLTI research network. She also serves as a peer reviewer for The Breast and the Journal of Geriatric Oncology.
