Carlos Mavioso, MD is a Plastic Surgeon at the Champalimaud Foundation Breast Unit, in Lisbon Portugal . Since 2024 he stepped up as the leader of the Breast Surgery Team.
His main area of interest is Breast reconstruction. Carlos Mavioso also cooperates regularly with the Digestive and Gynecology Units, for vulvar and perineal reconstruction.
Member of the Plastic and Reconstructive Portuguese Society and of Lisbon Society of Medical Sciences. Carlos Mavioso cooperates in collaborative studies as the prospective international registry of nipple sparing mastectomies (INSPIRE) as Principal Investigator and is actually leading in Portugal the EU Breast study I PREPARE.

Passionate about knowledge-sharing, he focuses on surgical research, oncology education, and mentorship in low-resource settings. He is an active member of the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), European Breast Cancer Research Association of Surgical Trialists (EUBREAST), and the European School of Oncology (ESO), collaborating through these networks to raise global standards in surgical oncology.
