BCRP Alexandra Anjos, BSc
Alexandra Anjos is a Master’s student in Biomedical Engineering at NOVA School of Science and Technology. She will be pursuing her Master’s thesis focusing on the integration of machine learning with medical knowledge to estimate the effects of treatment decisions on breast cancer recurrence and metastasis risk. The research combines causal modelling, clinical knowledge and survival analysis to better account for confounding factors when estimating treatment effects and supporting more clinically informed approaches to breast cancer prognosis.
Previously, Alexandra completed an internship at the Champalimaud Foundation, where she researched and evaluated AI models for automated coronary artery calcium (CAC) segmentation and Agatston scoring on non-gated, non-contrast chest CT scans.
