
Marcelo D. Mendonça, MD, PhD
Marcelo D. Mendonça, MD, Ph.D., trained in Medicine at University of Porto and in Neurology and at Centro Hospitalar de Lisboa Ocidental, with additional training at Hospital Clínic of Barcelona and Columbia University in New York. He completed a PhD in Biomedicine at NOVA Medical School, where he investigated basal ganglia circuit dysfunction in models of Parkinson’s disease, and received clinical research training through the PTCSRT-Harvard Medical School program.
Marcelo is currently a neurologist and neuroscientist at Champalimaud Foundation specializing in motor control, movement disorders, and cognitive neuroscience. He is Assistant Professor of Neuroscience at NOVA Medical School and of Clinical Research at University of Algarve. Marcelo serves on the board of the Behavioral Neurology section of the Portuguese Society of Neurology and is a member of several scientific committees, including the EU BrainHealth Partnership.
