Liane Carolina
Liane Carolina is a MSc student in Data Science and Engineering at IST, University of Lisbon, and has been affiliated with the Champalimaud Foundation since early 2024. Her collaboration began during her bachelor’s internship in Biomedical Engineering, where she implemented a non-rigid registration algorithm for volumetric correction between medical imaging and intraoperative data, as a first step to predict tumor displacement caused by patient repositioning.
Following this project, Liane continued working with the Foundation, where she is currently developing her master thesis in algorithms to extract meaningful, patient-specific features from medical data in real time. Her research also focuses on using AI to align and correct patient positioning between clinical positions. This project won recently a Feedzai Women in Science MSc scholarship, an initiative from the master's programme at Técnico Lisboa, which aims to promote the participation of women in science, engineering, and technology, supporting their academic path and engagement in research activities.
